Safer, smarter, faster: Go-Barry proves its worth on A16 project

On the GVO WNZ A16 project, asphalt was replaced in 11 weekend slots, in addition to various other maintenance works. This large-scale project requires tight coordination, safe working and good teamwork between all parties involved. It is a fine example of how efficient and safe large-scale maintenance can be carried out.

In the weekend of week 42, a special moment took place under Ridderkerk junction: the deployment of the Go-Barry, a smart safety solution for barriers. A traditional shield barrier was initially planned for the planned concrete repairs, but on the advice of the project's safety expert, a safer and more efficient alternative was sought. This is how the Go-Barry came into the picture.

The deployment proved to be a hit. The Go-Barry was deployed last minute and provided a safe, flexible and quick to place barrier. The barrier could be constructed safely and efficiently on a closed exit ramp and then moved to the viaduct, where it was placed in exactly the right position. This provided extra safety and allowed smart handling of the limited height on site - something that was more difficult to achieve with a traditional barrier. The flexibility of the system was also evident: on Sundays, the barrier had to be moved temporarily to allow asphalt transport to pass - an adjustment that was achieved within five minutes.

Reactions from the project team were unanimously positive. The Go-Barry once again proved its worth on a project where safety, efficiency and traffic flow come together. A great example of how innovative solutions can make a difference in practice.
